Fitness Marketing Made Simple – “Nobody Does That!!”...

One of the biggest problems with marketing a fitness business these days is that, well, EVERYBODY seems to be offering EXACTLY what you’re offering, right? I mean, sure, the fitness marketing Guru’s tell you that you’re supposed to create a Unique Selling Proposition (USP) for your business to make it stand out from your competitors but they always seem to forget that the word ‘unique’ means ‘one of a kind’ and that fitness businesses tend to be anything but one of a kind. After all, a pushup is a pushup is a pushup. A squat is a squat is a squat. Circuits are circuits, Tabata’s are Tabata’s and no sooner than a  kettlebell, an Indian club or a Vipr turns up on the scene to make your training just a little different (if not truly unique) does every man and his dog find out about it, attends the same course you did and now starts offering the exact same training protocols that you were using to make you ‘stand out’ from everyone else who was trying to get their hooks into your prospective clients. And the realms of your nutritional advice fare no better either. You decide that nutrition is more than calories in vs calories out and learn about metabolic typing and your competition does the same. You learn about fasting protocols and suddenly THEIR blogs are talking about the importance of fasting. You lean about hormone balancing and they too are biosignature and supplement experts almost before you can blink. And what about your Magnetic Marketing Message (MMM)? In all likelihood it fares no better. You offer ‘drop a dress size in 6 weeks’ and so does the bootcamp down the road. You cut it to 4 weeks and so do they. You add...

I’m always being asked for recommendations about the best books out there for improving business success without becoming a crass and pushy ‘salesman’ type. 4 Articles Every Personal Trainer Should Write...

You know, personal trainers and fitness professionals often tell me how hard it is to come up with content ideas for what to write about for their blogs, websites and newsletters, telling me that every thing they could possibly write about has been written about and that they really don’t think they have anything that they can add. I get it, I really do. When you search on any topic related to health, fitness and fatloss (or ANY topic for that matter), you’ll find hundreds of thousands of articles and blogposts already saying everything that you might have to say about whatever it is you’re interested in. It feels like there’s no point in creating more and going out on a limb with your ideas, right? Yet if that’s how you’re thinking, if that’s what’s holding you back you need to understand something here. The TOPIC may have been written about millions of times but there are BILLIONS of people on the planet and most of them are still pretty unsatisfied with the answers they’ve been given to their problems so far. If they were then they wouldn’t still be searching, right? They’d solve their problems and get on with enjoying life without wasting time reading more articles about things that no longer affect them. You get where I’m going with this? Every man and his dog may well have written articles that you want to write but those articles have missed the mark for a lot of me… and women… and dogs So there’s ‘space’ for what you create… as long as what you create is reflective of your unique approach to solving the problems your readers face. And your unique approach doesn’t have to be the creation of a revolutionary way of...

Fitness Marketing Made Simple: How To NEVER Struggle With Article, Video and Blog Content Again...

Personal Trainer Succes Academy| Home Of London’s Only RESULTS GUARANTEED Personal Trainers | How To NEVER Struggle With Article, Video and Blog Content Again To be honest, I don’t get it. I just don’t get it when fitpro’s tell me that they struggle to communicate their ideas and values into articles, blog posts and youtube videos that will not only help others to solve their own fitness challenges but will also help THEM to establish themselves as credible experts and, of course, make them lots of money. I mean, what’s so hard about either verbalising or writing the VERY SAME THINGS that you talk to your clients about day in, day out as part of your role as a fitpro? It should be the easiest thing in the world. As easy as breathing. After all, you’re passionate about this, aren’t you? Or are you? Hmmm… take a second to think about that. You see, from my experience, when people struggle to create content it’s because of 2 things above all else. First, they struggle because they are worried about what other fitpros are going to think and say about what they’ve created. “What will they think?” “Is it up to scratch?” “Will they find flaws in what I’ve written?” “Will I sound stupid if I get it wrong?” The fitpro backs themselves into a corner because they’re living in fear of being judged and found wanting when, in reality, most trainers don’t have either the time nor the interest in reading each others blog posts and even if they do, they rarely comment. But the other part of this is… “So what!!??!” So what if someone DOES tell you your article could have been better? You can either agree and learn from it and write a better one next time or say “Thanks, but it wasn’t written for you, it was written for the public that I serve” and then get on with serving them some more. Remember, unless you’re in the business of training, educating or influencing fitpros, you should be completely blinkered to them and their opinions when you create your content for the public. You should have an “I really don’t give a shit” attitude that comes not from arrogance and conceit or feelings of superiority over your peers, but from a deep sense of purpose and passion for helping those who most need you. Let them play THEIR game and you focus on playing YOURS. No-one wins when you try to play someone else’s game, right? Not them, not you and not the clients you’re trying to help. Play YOUR game! Second, and I guess this stems from the first, too many trainers are creating content that doesn’t turn them on, fill their hearts with purpose and passion that DEMANDS that they write or share their expertise. Instead they’re creating content that’s ‘vanilla’ or ‘so-so’ or just ‘ok’. Where does that come from? From looking at what their peers are writing about and thinking ‘I really should do something on that too’ then essentially FORCING themselves to create content. Sound familiar? I bet it does! Yet I can tell you, this is NEVER a problem for me. I have the opposite problem in fact. My heart is so full of purpose and passion for what I want to share that the articles practically DEMAND to be written, and because they do, they come effortlessly and with a great deal of excitement rather than dread. I can tell you this; when you’re struggling to write, you’re not writing from your passion and you’re certainly not writing from your purpose. You’re writing from your ‘I guess I should really write something this week’ place and, of course, what you create comes harder, takes longer and you’re never truly satisfied with the end result. Am I right? Here’s why you MUST come from passion. Passionate communication is about...

Fitness Marketing – The REAL Power Of A Testimonial...

You already know that testimonials are a POWERFUL and important part of your fitness business, right? After all, having scores of raving fans telling everyone who’ll listen just how great you are and how much of an impact you’ve made on their lives is never a bad thing as far as business is concerned is it? Particularly if those raving fans create a bunch of new business for you. Yet, you know, most fitpro’s are pretty poor at gathering testimonials either in picture or video form and even when they do, they do very little to ‘dress them up’ so that they do the very best work possible in terms of showing you in a great light as a gifted and caring fitpro. Most images are poorly shot and quite… ‘ratty’ and tell hardly any of the story of either the results of the experience in getting them. They’re full of text, hardly bring out the important facts and look… well… damned ugly! Yet it’s easy to pretty them up and make them impactful by simply ‘dressing them up’ with your logo, the primary results and a few choice comments like this one from Men’s Health Editor Alex Harris after his 28 day Muscle in a month experiment with me. Pretty cool, right? But, you know, it’s not just the pics that need some work, those video testimonials can be MUCH better, as my buddy Erik Rokeach showed me this week. Erik created a POWERFUL testimonial process by asking USEFUL questions that demonstrated value around me and how I work rather than simply applying the ‘what did you accomplish’ questions that so many trainers ask. Watch the video and you’ll see what I mean. (And MASSIVE thanks to Paul Mort, Jon LeTocq, Greg Justice,...

Fitness Business Risk Reversal – Taking It Old School!...

Do You Have The Balls For This? Way, way, WAY back in October 2008 I issued a challenge to the fitness industry at large and the big health club chains specifically that SHOULD have changed the face of fitness dramatically and lead to a major shakeup in the way fitness services are provided. It should have. But it didn’t. In fact, as I was researching for an article I was about to write today (I’ll release it tomorrow) I thought I’d check in on Google to see whether or not anything had changed for the industry since then. It hadn’t. Certainly not when it comes to selling real-life, honest to goodness results. Sure, every ebook out there offers a guarantee nowadays but not so with the actual selling of results to attendees of bootcamps and personal training sessions. Now, before you get your panties in a twist and tell me that you ARE offering risk reversal to your bootcamp and PT clients, I’m talking about something MORE than the words, here. I’m talking about a 100% DESIRE to refund the cash if your clients don’t get the results you promised. I’m talking not just SAYING ‘Results or Your Money Back’ ONCE somewhere on your site, but as an actual day-to-day modus operandii of your business. I’m talking about taking onboard ALL of the risk of your business offering by not just offering a refund but how about DOUBLE their money back… or more? My own personal training business was the first in the world to offer a double money back guarantee (and still does as part of our most basic ‘entry level’ service and I’m still the only coach ANYWHERE on the planet who offers a 10x Guarantee on my own services as a...
